Production Process of Sintered PTFE Filter
1Raw Material Preparation
Pure PTFE powder is used, sieved and premixed.
2Press Molding
Fill the powder into the mold and preform it into tube or bar embryo under high temperature (50-80℃) and high pressure.
3Sintering Process
- Drying zone (100-250℃): Remove solvent oil and other impurities.
- Sintering zone (350-400 ℃): High-temperature molten particles, forming a uniform porous structure.
- Cooling zone: Slowly cool down to room temperature to prevent cracking.
4Post-Treatment
- Etching (optional): Enhance surface properties (e.g. anti-adhesion) by chemical treatment.
- Cleaning and testing: Removal of residues and testing for airtightness and accuracy.
Advantages of Sintered PTFE Filter
Corrosion Resistance
Resistant to strong acids (e.g. sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid), strong bases and organic solvents.
High Temperature Stability
Long-term working temperature up to 200℃, support steam sterilization.
High Porosity & Flow Rate
Porosity of more than 50%, fluid flux is 30% higher than metal cartridge.
Easy to Clean
Smooth surface like wax, impurities are not easy to adhere to, can be repeatedly cleaned and regenerated.
No Risk of Degranulation
Smooth inner and outer surfaces, no particles falling off to contaminate the fluid.
Ozone Resistance
Suitable for ozone sterilization environments (such as pharmaceutical and food industries).
Applications of Sintered PTFE Filter
| Fields | Specific Applications |
|---|---|
| Pharmaceutical industry | Water filtration for injection, decarbonization of pharmaceutical solution, sterile air filtration. |
| Chemical industry | Aluminum hydroxide, phosphor and other catalyst filtration, acid and alkali solution fine filtration. |
| Food & Beverage | Wine clarification, edible oil filtration, food additive purification. |
| Environmental Protection & Wastewater | Industrial wastewater treatment (e.g., oily wastewater), exhaust particulate interception. |
| Electronics & Semiconductors | Ultrapure water preparation, chemical filtration (e.g. photoresist). |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the temperature range of Sintered PTFE Filters?
Sintered PTFE filters have an outstanding operational temperature range from -190℃ up to 260℃, and can temporarily withstand temperatures up to 300℃. This makes them highly suitable for high-temperature fluid handling and steam sterilization.
What are the main advantages of using a Sintered PTFE Filter over metal cartridges?
Sintered PTFE filters offer excellent chemical corrosion resistance, a high porosity (over 50%) resulting in a 30% higher fluid flux than metal cartridges, ozone resistance, and no risk of degranulation. They are also easy to clean, regenerate, and reuse.
In which industries are Sintered PTFE Filters commonly used?
They are widely applied in the Pharmaceutical industry (water for injection, sterile air filtration), Chemical industry (catalyst filtration, acid/alkali filtration), Food & Beverage (wine clarification, edible oil), Environmental Protection (wastewater treatment), Electronics (ultrapure water, photoresist filtration), and Energy & Oil (electrolyte filtration).
How are Sintered PTFE Filters manufactured?
The production process consists of four main stages: 1. Raw material preparation (sieving pure PTFE powder), 2. Press molding under high temperature and pressure, 3. Sintering (drying at 100-250℃, sintering at 350-400℃, and slow cooling), and 4. Post-treatment (optional chemical etching, cleaning, and airtightness testing).
What filtration accuracies and interface types are available?
Filtration accuracies range from 0.1 μm to 100 μm. Available interface types include M20, M30, 222, 226, Flush, and Platen, all of which can be customized to fit specific equipment requirements.
