    Product Overview

Sintered PE Filter can be used for vacuum filtration, pressure filtration or gravity filtration. In order to use this product well, the following points must be mastered:

    • Correct selection of filtration parameters: Optimum filtration pressure difference, filtration speed and filtration area, etc. Therefore, a small test to determine the design parameters must be carried out in advance.
    • Structure design: According to the requirements for filtration in production and the characteristics of porous PE media, the mechanical structure of the filter should be correctly designed.
    • Operating procedures: There must be certain operating procedures during use, especially at least 5-10 minutes of low-pressure 0.3-0.5kg/m² filtration at the start-up stage. It is forbidden to reach the normal operating pressure as soon as it is started; otherwise, the capillary pores will be blocked too quickly, which will significantly reduce productivity.
    • Back blowing system: The porous PE filter should be equipped with a certain volume of air bags (one air bag can be used for several filters) for back blowing slag removal and back blowing regeneration. The back blowing pipeline should be thicker, and the back blowing valve should use ball valves or cocks. The blow back speed should be fast, and the blowing time should not be long, generally no more than 1 second, otherwise the compressed air will be wasted.
    • Regeneration procedures: According to the characteristics of different materials, different regeneration operation procedures should be formulated.

Production Process of Sinter PE Filter

    1. Raw Material Preparation
Select HDPE granules, mix and granulate (hydrophilic modifier or conductive material can be added).
    2. Sintering and Molding
Sintering at high temperature (200-300℃) under high pressure to form a uniform porous structure.
    3. Processing and Cutting
Cut into cartridge sizes as required; end caps are ultrasonically welded or glued for sealing.
    4. Cleaning and Testing
Remove residual particles, conduct bubble point test, flow test and integrity test.
    5. Packaging and Sterilization
Medical grade products need to be sterilized by gamma rays, while regular products are vacuum packed.

    Performance of Sinter PE Filter

    • Material properties: PE with UHMWPE as the main medium is non-toxic, tasteless, has no foreign matter dissolution, and offers biochemical safety.
    • Chemical properties: PE filter media has excellent corrosion resistance, and can withstand various non-strong oxidizing acids, alkalis, aldehydes, aliphatic hydrocarbons, radioactive radiation, etc. Below 80°C, it resists ester ketones, ethers, and other organic solvents.
    • Temperature resistance: The highest saturated steam temperature can reach 130°C, while long-term continuous use should not exceed 80°C.
    • Mechanical properties: Good toughness and strength, impact resistance, and not easy to damage.
    • Filtration performance: Filtration accuracy range (0.2-200 microns) with high filtration efficiency. Controlling the initial pressure can effectively remove solid particles above 0.2 microns.
    • Physical properties: The specific gravity of the medium is light, with a theoretical specific gravity around 0.5-0.7g/ml.
    • Regeneration performance: The capillary pores of PE media have microscopic expansion elasticity and can be efficiently backwashed and regenerated by water pressure, air pressure, or water-air pressure. Acid solutions of appropriate concentration can chemically dissolve and regenerate blockages to restore filtration performance.
    • Processing performance: Secondary processing can be carried out by turning, milling, planing, ironing, hot melt-welding, and bonding.
    • Basic characteristics: Manufactured by a special sintering process where plastic particles are heated until soft and melt at the contact surfaces while retaining their original shape. The resulting body has open continuous pores, the size and number of which depend on sintering conditions and polymer particle size.

    Feature of Sinter PE Filter

    • Large flow: High porosity (around 50%) ensures greater fluid flow per unit area.
    • Smooth surface: Impurities do not stick easily, making backwashing easy, thorough, and reusable.
    • Strong anti-fouling: High filtration accuracy makes it difficult for impurities to remain in the filter body, and can press sludge to a water content of 70%.
    • Excellent cost performance: Suitable for water treatment, environmental sewage treatment, reclaimed water reuse, and chemical product filtration.
    • Corrosion resistance: High resistance to strong acids, strong alkalis, high temperatures, corrosive chemical raw materials, and organic solvents.
    • Wear resistance: Excellent strength and wear resistance ensure a long service life.
    • Non-stick exterior: The light outer surface prevents impurities from sticking together.
    • Good toughness: The filter element is highly resilient and not easy to break.
    • No threshing: Eliminates particle shedding/threshing phenomena during operation.
    • Pressure resistance: Built with strong structural pressure resistance.

    Application of Sinter PE Filter

Sintered PE filters can be used as a filter medium for heterogeneous phase separation (solid-liquid, gas-solid, gas-liquid, liquid-liquid) in a physical sense. Used for solid-liquid separation, the clarification or plate filtration efficiency for solid particles above 0.2 microns can reach more than 99.7%.

    (1) Pharmaceuticals & Food Industry
Filtration of liquid medicine for injections, bottled water for washing injections, separation and filtration in tetracycline production, and fine filtration of edible oils like corn, soybean, and rapeseed oil.
    (2) Environmental Water Treatment
Purification and filtration of heavy metal salts in electroplating solutions and industrial wastewater (cadmium, copper, chromium, nickel, lead, etc.) via PE microporous tubes. Also used for coal-containing wastewater, flue gas liquid depressurization, dry dust recovery, and electrolysis water purification.
    (3) Chemical Industry
Precision filtration of liquid products, raw materials, and intermediates (acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents). Includes acid/sulfur filtration in chemical fiber production, brine filtration in chlor-alkali production, activated carbon filtration in glyphosate production, and barium sulfate/potassium hydroxide filtration in metallurgical plants.
    (4) Non-Ferrous Metals Field
Preparation filtration for nickel chloride, cobalt chloride, nickel oxalate, cobalt carbonate, and nickel carbonate. Also used for decalcification and iron filtration of pickling solutions, and filtration/washing of crystallization solutions.

Sintered PE cartridges can be customized in hydrophobic (gas filtration) or hydrophilic (liquid filtration) versions with different interfaces (e.g. NPT thread, flat port). For high temperature or high pressure scenarios, a reinforced construction design is recommended. For further technical specifications or sample testing, please contact us for support.
